Between the periods of August 10, 2008 and January 15, 2009, 22 reports were made to the Prescott Valley Police Department in reference to Criminal Acts of Criminal Damage Graffiti, throughout the Prescott Valley area.

In early December 2008, two search warrants were issued and executed during which Gang Graffiti was located and confiscated.

On January 15, 2009 Prescott Valley Police Officers responded to a fight involving members of two local street gangs.  Four juvenile males were taken into custody and booked into Yavapai County Juvenile Detention for assault and participation in a criminal street gang.

On January 20, 2009 15 reports were taken in reference to Criminal Acts of Criminal Damage Graffiti, throughout Prescott Valley.  The investigation led to the issuance of a search warrant for several residences in Prescott Valley.

On January 22, 2009 the Prescott Valley Police Department Criminal Investigations Section drafted and executed search warrants for five residences of the subjects involved in the gang fight from January.  The search warrant revealed evidence of participating in a street gang and illegal weapons.

This investigation was successful and yielded several arrests. Despite these efforts, these types of crimes can occur again. Graffiti is an ongoing problem in the area and the assistance of citizens can go a long way in solving these crimes and keeping our town beautiful.

We would urge anyone who has information on these crimes or similar crimes to call the Prescott Valley Police Department Criminal Investigations Section at (928)772-5110 or Yavapai County Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.
